Staff Management Publishes White Paper in HR Management Magazine Examining the Trend Towards Outsourced Contingent Workforce Management

CHICAGO, November 29, 2010 — Staff Management, the industry’s leading provider of sustainable temporary staffing and contingent workforce management solutions, announces today the publication of a new white paper, MSP: Is DIY still a valid strategy?, as part of the fourth quarter issue of HR Management magazine. The paper examines the trend towards outsourcing contingent workforce program management to Managed Service Providers (MSP), the advantages and risks of keeping program management in-house and the current staffing industry best practices.

The white paper is aimed at users of contingent labor who are deciding between self managing their contingent workforce program and outsourcing program management to an MSP. The paper considers when bucking the trend towards outsourced program management – the Staffing Industry Analysts in their 2009 Buyers Survey projected MSP usage to rise to 64% in 2011 — and opting for self-management is the right choice.

Joan Davison, Chief Operating Officer for Staff Management, commented on the advantages of outsourcing in the white paper. “One surprising reality is that a third-party MSP can often achieve greater results than an internal program management office,” said Davison. “An MSP is not restricted by internal politics and is contractually obligated by virtue of weighted SLAs and fees at risk to achieve savings, program adoption and performance goals. In fact, in some arrangements there is no MSP fee assessed until the provider is delivering on their savings commitments,” continued Davison.

The paper includes data from the Aberdeen Group and the Staffing Industry Analysts which indicates that contingent workforce buyers with an MSP in place enjoy superior program performance and greater cost savings than organizations without an MSP in place. It also explores the potential for hybrid contingent workforce management models that provide buyers with more choices on when to outsource and when to do it themselves.
