Employment Background Investigations, Inc. Achieves Accreditation from Background Screening Credentialing Council

Owings Mills, MD — MARCH 10, 2011 — The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS®) Background Screening Credentialing Council (BSCC) announced today that Employment Background Investigations, Inc (EBI) has successfully achieved compliance with the Background Screening Agency Accreditation Program (BSAAP) and will now be formally recognized as BSCC Accredited.

“Achieving NAPBS accreditation validates EBI’s commitment to the highest standards in the background screening industry. It takes a team of best in class individuals to realize this level of organizational excellence, and we couldn’t be more gratified,” stated EBI President and CEO Richard Kurland. Robert Capwell, EBI’s Chief Knowledge Officer, also added that data security, uncompromised ethics, unparalleled client service and education are the cornerstones of EBI’s culture. Everyone at EBI is very proud to be recognized by NAPBS as an industry leader to have received this elite accreditation status.

Each year, U.S. employers, organizations and governmental agencies request millions of consumer reports to assist with critical business decisions involving background screening. Background screening reports, which are categorized as consumer reports are currently regulated at both the federal and state level. Since its inception, NAPBS has believed that there is a strong need for a singular cohesive industry standard and therefore created the BSAAP. Governed by a strict professional standard composed of requirements and measurements, the BSAAP is positioned to become a widely recognized seal of approval that brings national recognition to background screening organizations (also referred to as Consumer Reporting Agencies). This recognition will stand as the industry “seal” representing a background screening organization’s commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards and continued institutional improvement.

The NAPBS Background Screening Credentialing Council (BSCC) oversees the application process and is the governing accreditation body that ensures the background screening organizations seeking accreditation meet or exceed a measurable standard of competence. To become accredited, EBI passed a rigorous onsite audit of its policies, procedures and best practices as they relate to six critical areas:

• Information security and consumer protection
• Legal compliance
• Client education
• Researcher, data and verification standards
• Product and service standards
• Overall business practices

The evaluation and accreditation conducted by independent NAPBS auditors found EBI to be in full compliance with all 58 background screening industry standards. Any U.S.-based employment screening organization is eligible to apply for accreditation. A copy of the standard, the policies and procedures, and measurements is available at www.napbs.com.
