In today’s challenging business environment, the practice of Systems Thinking provides a window into complex organizational systems. Interaction Associates takes this concept one step further — showing leaders how to effectively align their people to collaborate to make changes inside complicated systems, while avoiding unintended consequences.
The conference’s theme is “Systems Thinking in Action®: Because Sustainable Success Doesn’t Just Happen.” Interaction Associates Director of Research & Development, Andy Atkins, and Interaction Associates Director of Leadership and Sustainability, Ashley Welch, will co-present an in-depth, two-and-a-half-hour workshop session on collaboration and systems thinking on Wednesday, November 2. During the session, “Systems Thinking to Systems Doing: Collaboration Excellence for Sustainable Results,” Atkins and Welch will review the importance of acting strategically within a system. “Leaders must move from stakeholder engagement to ownership and taking responsibility to achieve positive results,” Atkins said. “To successfully make this shift, they must design seamless collaborative processes —combining deep insight, a collaborative attitude, and powerful tools,” he added. The presenters will explore the intersection of systems thinking and collaboration, providing a hands-on experience for participants with three proven collaborative tools that they can use immediately.

• Identifying the needs and interests of key stakeholders in a system.
• Understanding multiple options for involvement strategies to create shared ownership for decisions.
• Creating a graphic representation of an “involvement map” that facilitates communication, alignment, and drives implementation.
