CLEVELAND / February 1, 2012 – When a job candidate’s background check doesn’t check out, an employer’s next move can spell the difference between a legal hiring decision and costly litigation.

Employment background checks are under a microscope from federal and state regulators who are cracking down on employers in an effort to combat perceived misuse and discrimination.
