IHRIM to Offer Full-Day Course on HR Metrics and HRIP Certification Exam at OHUG 2012 Conference

The International Association for Human Resource Information Management (IHRIM), the world’s leading clearinghouse for the HRIM (Human Resource Information Management) industry, is pleased to offer professionals the opportunity to take the Human Resource Information Professional (HRIP) exam as well as a full-day course that will cover HR Metrics on June 18, 2012.

The HRIP Certification exam is designed to assess the knowledge and competencies of professionals in the HR technology field. Passing the exam indicates a demonstrated comprehensive understanding and proficiency of the defined body of knowledge in HR information management. Offered in conjunction with OHUG’s 2012 Conference, IHRIM’s `HR Metrics for Business Partners – If You Have to Ask You’re Not’ will help attendees understand the importance of taking ownership of human performance and HR related metrics in their organizations. Led by Dr. Kevin D. Carlson, an Associate Professor of Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, IHRIM’s HR Metrics for Business Partners will address five key areas:
• why an understanding of metrics is the critical to being a business partner;
• why some commonly used metrics (i.e., head count) have little organizational value;
• what you need to know about HR practices in organizations and their influence on outcomes in order to identify appropriate metrics;
• what assessment approaches and metrics can be used (and some that need to be developed) to direct improvement efforts; and
• how HRIS is redefining where and how an organization can use metrics.

“As experts in the functional areas of human resource management, business partners who understand HR metrics can move their organizations toward increased organizational effectiveness,” said Michelle Czosek, Manager of Education and Special Programs for IHRIM. “At a minimum, individuals that understand HR metrics can help organizations avoid wasting time and resources developing and distributing metrics data that will have little strategic value.”

Those that will most benefit from the course include any HR or HRIS manager with responsibility for developing and communicating information about the effectiveness of human capital management systems in organizations; and anyone associated with HR or HRIS that is interested in career advancement within their organization. This education program has been approved for 6.5 HRIP and HRCI Recertification Credit Hours. For more information about IHRIM’s Education programs and initiatives, visit http://bit.ly/IHRIM_Education.
