United Benefit Advisors' Thomas Mangan Honored With CEO Leadership Award By The Institute Of Health Care Consumerism

Indianapolis, Indiana – [December 13, 2013] – United Benefit Advisors (UBA), the nation’s leading independent employee benefits organization, today announced that Thomas Mangan, Chief Executive Officer, received the 2013 CEO Leadership Award from The Institute of HealthCare Consumerism. Part of their HealthCare Consumerism Superstars, this annual award is designed to recognize those who go above and beyond in executing innovative health and benefit management programs or providing related solutions to organizations.

The Institute for HealthCare Consumerism (IHC) is an informational hub and collaborative environment focused exclusively on innovative health and benefit management thought leadership and solutions. Founded in 2005, IHC is a multi-platform environment that serves to deepen the conversation and collaboration between its invested stakeholders, including employers, human resource professionals, executives, brokers, advisors and administrators of regional health plan providers.

Mangan, a twenty-year veteran in the field of employee benefits, was named CEO of UBA in 2012, just two years after the Affordable Care Act was signed into law. His leadership of the organization, through one of the most tumultuous times in the history of health care benefits, is being recognized for cutting-edge offerings that have allowed UBA’s community of 140 Partner Firms to excel despite the current industry transformation.

Prior to his current position as CEO, Mangan served as a regional president for USI Insurance Services, one of the eight largest insurance brokerage firms in the nation. During his career, Mangan has worked as President of the Employee Benefits Division of HUB International Limited and served on a number of advisory boards and councils, such as the Council of Employee Benefit Executives, the Industry Affairs Committee and on the national consultant advisory boards of several carriers, including CIGNA, Aetna and UnitedHealthcare.

“Having been a part of this industry for more than two decades, I’m honored to receive the CEO Leadership Award because it illustrates the value provided to employers by the organizations I have led,” said Thomas Mangan, Chief Executive Officer at United Benefit Advisors. “Our two new private health insurance exchanges – Benefits Passport(R) and benefitbay(TM) – are part of UBA’s continued innovation. This award would not be possible without the excellent people who make up UBA. They equally deserve the recognition and credit for this award.”

Often called upon by industry media, Mangan has also been named one of the top 10 most influential individuals in the health care industry by Employee Benefit News and is widely recognized as one of the industry’s most progressive thought leaders.
