Sen. Ben Cardin Renews Commitment to Employee Wellness, Small Business

BETHESDA, Md. – Sen. Ben Cardin visited the Bethesda headquarters of Wellness Corporate Solutions on Friday, part of a statewide “Made in Maryland” tour of successful Maryland small businesses. Sen. Cardin met with employees and executive leadership to discuss a variety of issues related to the health and wellness industry and to the needs of small businesses.

In his remarks, Sen. Cardin renewed his commitment to the Affordable Care Act and the provision of the law that promote workplace wellness. “Wellness programs help reduce costs and improve the health of employees,” Sen. Cardin said. “We should do everything we can to support them.”

Sen. Cardin also praised the rapid growth of Wellness Corporate Solutions and its Maryland roots, promising continued support to the needs of small businesses across the country.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Sen. Cardin took the time to visit our office,” said Fiona Gathright, president and CEO of Wellness Corporate Solutions. “His support of small businesses and workplace wellness demonstrates his commitment not only to the citizens of Maryland, but to all Americans.”

Known for his work in the health-care sector, Sen. Cardin was one of the first members of Congress to promote wellness programs within the federal government. Sen. Cardin also serves on the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, where he works to promote policies that stimulate investments in small businesses.

After five years of consistent growth, Wellness Corporate Solutions relocated its headquarters to Bethesda in September 2013. The company now employs over 80 full-time employees and was included in Inc. Magazine’s annual list of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in the United States.
