Juice Inc. Offers Online Seminar with Group Genius expert, Dr. Sébastien Paquet

GUELPH, Ontario – Jan. 16, 2012 – Engagement and innovation specialist Juice Inc. is sponsoring an interactive Web-based course that will give attendees a foundational understanding of the underlying patterns and conditions that enable remarkable results to come from groups in almost any population.

“Beyond Teamwork – Getting Group Genius” will take place on Thursday, February 16 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. EST/10:00 to 11:30 a.m. PST.  Registration information is available at http://www.juiceinc.com/media/webinar/beyond-teamwork-getting-group-genius.  Registrants who sign up by February 1 can take advantage of the early bird special of $99.  The price will increase to $149 after that date.

Decades of research and training on teamwork has focused on interpersonal skills, goal setting and communication.  These elements certainly play a role in the productivity of teams, but fail to fully explain why some groups come up with astounding innovations and some do not.  Dr. Séb Paquet will share 10 years of research and observations on the patterns and conditions that underlie groups that produce game-changing results.  Participants will learn the strategies and tactics that remove interference and stimulate remarkable solutions, beyond common teamwork techniques and collaboration tools.  Illustrated and co-commentated in real time by Rick Boersma, Juice’s in-house innovation expert and graphic facilitator, this seminar is a limited engagement, not to be missed by HR and OD practitioners and executives interested in designing the organization of the future.

Attendees of the online seminar will learn:

    –    Patterns of group formation
    –    Why it’s possible for an average group to come up with amazing results and for an exceptional group to fail
    –    How to spot the beginnings of “group genius”
    –    How to create the conditions that  enable “group genius” to thrive
    –    How to apply these concepts to produce results for your organization

Paquet is vice president and social alchemist of Sceneverse Inc.  Sceneverse is a tech start-up focused on enabling cultural scenes to flourish through better on and off-line connection.  Paquet earned a Ph.D. from the University of Montreal and was a computer science professor at TELUQ – Université du Québec à Montréal.  Prior to that, he worked at the National Research Council and tech start-up Social Text.  Paquet’s omnipresence on the Web began with a collaboration on social software with Clay Shirky and Danah Boyd.  He is sought out as an expert in group forming, knowledge transfer and Web-based collaboration.

Rick Boersma co-founded Floworks Simulations and Training in 2000, where he creates and facilitates training simulations including Innovation in a Box, C6 – Accountability™, Terra Nova™, The Big Picture™ and Enterprise™.  From 1995 through 2000, Boersma was a lead designer and facilitator for Eagle’s Flight Creative Training Excellence Inc., creating and facilitating experiential training programs across North America for Fortune 500 companies.  In 2010, Floworks Simulations and Training founders Rick Boersma and Aspen Heisey officially joined the Juice Inc. team.

The seminar has been submitted to the HR Certification Institute for review.  Seminar attendees will receive the Group Genius Indicator, which will allow them to audit groups to predict their potential for success.  To register for “Beyond Teamwork – Getting Group Genius,” visit http://www.juiceinc.com/media/webinar/beyond-teamwork-getting-group-genius.
