Columbus, Ohio—September 8, 2011—The co-owners of Connect the Dots Consulting firm, Brenda Hampel and Erika Lamont, released a new book called “Perfect Phrases for New Employee Orientation and Onboarding.”

The book is the latest in McGraw-Hill’s bestselling business series, “Perfect Phrases,” which has 50 books geared for business professionals.

The authors are Columbus-based consultants who provide solutions for onboarding and executive and high-performance team coaching. This is the second book they have written together. Their first book, “Solving Employee Performance Problems,” was also published by McGraw-Hill earlier this year.

“Perfect Phrases for New Employee Orientation and Onboarding” gives managers and human resources professionals hundreds of phrases to use when transitioning employees into new roles and/or new company cultures. The book contains phrases to use during the pre-start period through month four of employment, and the phrases are both to acknowledge work well done and to provide constructive feedback for an employee not quite on the right track.

Some perfect phrases to use with a new employee who does not seem to be an active listener, for example, are: “Are you asking enough questions about the organization, your colleagues, their work, and how your team is serving them?” Or, “Are you in a hurry to prove yourself? Remember that this can be a key derailer or disconnect. Slow down and learn.”

Hampel and Lamont hope these phrases, and others, will aid human resources partners and hiring managers to keep an open dialogue with new employees and create a successful transition and positive onboarding experience.

Connect the Dots specializes in onboarding, leadership coaching and team dynamics solutions.
