Houston, TX, May 10, 2017 – Sharon Birkman, President and CEO of Birkman, received The Mary Lehman MacLachlan Economic Empowerment Award at the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) 20th Annual Conference last week in Orlando, FL. This award honors women who exemplify qualities of economic independence, run financially-sound businesses, provide positive financial benefits for staff, and support other business women in the community.
This award is the most prestigious honor granted by WPO and was created as a tribute to Mary Lehman MacLachlan, a former leader in the business community. She believed in the importance of economic empowerment and was an inspiring advocate for women in positions of leadership. As one of the first WPO advisory board members, she also helped facilitate the growth of WPO into a global organization.
Sharon explains, “I am honored to receive an award that celebrates such an inspirational role model for women entrepreneurs, and I am truly grateful to have been recognized amidst so many incredible leaders.
