HR Leaders and Policy Makers Gather at the HRO Today Forum & Workforce Congress to Share Solutions

EDISON, New Jersey / April 30, 2012— The HRO Today Forum & Workforce Congress has gathered some of the world’s leading HR executives, along with leaders from government, academia and non-governmental organizations, to create real-world solutions that positively impact their organizations and the overall economy. The event starts today and runs through May 2 at the Gaylord National Hotel &Convention Center just outside of Washington, D.C.

HR doesn’t create jobs, but it can play a key role in workforce design and talent acquisition. The Forum creates a uniquely collaborative environment where HR professionals can share knowledge and real-world strategies to help their organizations create exceptional workforces and, therefore, business success.

The Forum’s main themes this year are job creation, global HR, innovation and reintegrating veterans into the workforce. Recognizing that innovation spurs job growth, the iTalent Competition, sponsored by Oracle in cooperation with the Startup America Partnership, will reward innovators and entrepreneurs in HR technology. Because hiring veterans poses unique opportunities and challenges, several sessions will address success stories and best practices on the topic.

Panels and debates will bring subject matter expertise to high-level issues, addressing questions like “Where do jobs come from?” and “Is outsourcing good for America?” Keynote and featured speakers include:

• Tom Daschle, Former Senate Majority Leader
• Dr. Brenda Dann-Messier, Assistant Secretary for Vocational and Adult Education, U.S. Department of Education
• Scott Case, CEO of the Startup America Partnership
• Brink Lindsey, Senior Scholar in Research and Policy at the Kauffman Foundation
• James H. Quigley, CEO Emeritus of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited and Senior Partner, Deloitte LLP

The Forum’s second day will also feature the inaugural Workforce Congress event that will focus on job growth and the competitive workforce. This invitation-only event will debate a series of resolutions calling for cross-sector collaboration and public-private partnerships to improve workforce competitiveness by “Training for Upward Mobility” and reintegrate veterans into society by turning “Swords into Plowshares.”
