HR Systems 2021 – The Challenges and Opportunities
July 11, 2012 (2 p.m. — 3 p.m. CST)
The future forces that will affect people over the next 10 years are fascinating and interesting from an HR perspective. Many of these future impacts are well known, such as how social networks and multi-media will evolve and become further integrated into our work lives and HR software, but there are emerging trends in areas such as Marketing, Diversity, Ethics, Innovation, Consumerism, Globalization and Health that will also impact our work and employee environments in ways that are less obvious. In this session, users will learn why they should be aware of these trends, the impact future trends are likely to have on HR and how HR and people systems will need to adapt.

What to Do the Year BEFORE You Start a Talent Management Suite Implementation
July 18, 2012 (11 a.m. — 12 p.m. CST)
While Talent Management Suite implementations are all the rage these days, often companies do not realize all that is involved until they are in the middle of the implementation, leading to increased costs, delayed Go Live dates and poor change management. In this session, the presenter will share details from her company’s implementation of a Talent Management Suite, and what she wishes someone had encouraged them to have worked on before the implementation even started.

Presenter: Janna Hartsock, HRIP, HRIS Manager, American Institutes for Research.

How to Deploy Software in 2012 and Beyond
July 25, 2012 (11 a.m. — 12 p.m. CST)
Mega trends have created a “new norm” for HR and Talent Management. Companies will need to rethink how they deploy these technologies into the future. Deployments centered on automating transactions have been replaced by deployments focusing on three priorities: business outcomes, user adoptions, and effective change management. In the future, HR systems must focus on measuring the impact of people, process, and technology to aid in developing business decisions and help to gain a competitive advantage. Learn why technology deployments fail, how to redefine change management, tips on embedding collaborative technologies, and how to drive business value into the future.

Presenter: Jason Averbook, CEO, Knowledge Infusion.

Total Cost of Ownership — Managing Scarce Resources
August 1, 2012 (11 a.m. — 12 p.m. CST)
Mayo Clinic HRIS prides itself on customer service, yet HRIS is often viewed as a barrier to accommodating HR’s requests. By looking at Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) as a metric on how resources are being effectively managed assures that decision-making on technology investments remains an HR responsibility. As a metric, TCO can quantify the out of pocket expense as well as the internal resources by capturing HRIS and IT time spent supporting an application. Through this case study users will learn how to use TCO as an effective tool to manage the day-to-day decisions about application support.

Presenter: Joanne Rosener, Director — HRIS, Mayo Clinic.

“The Sizzling Summer Webinar Series is aimed at providing educational opportunities for professional advancement in the HRIS / HRIT industry,” said Michelle Czosek, Manager of Education and Special Programs for IHRIM. “And since these webinars have been approved for 1 HRIP Recertification Credit Hour as well as met the HR Certification Institute’s criteria to be pre-approved for recertification credit, there’s even more reason to take these sessions in!”
