Checkster Invalidates Skillsurvey Patent

Novato, Calif. / April 13, 2017 – In order to set the record to its customers and the marketplace, Checkster Inc, issues this statement regarding the final outcome of a lawsuit filed against Checkster by its competitor, Skillsurvey Inc., in 2015.

On April 6, 2017, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington, DC, issued its ruling summarily affirming the dismissal of Skillsurvey’s lawsuit by the Eastern District of Pennsylvania trial court in 2016, and reiterating that Skillsurvey’s patent was invalid and therefore unenforceable.

“Skillsurvey’s lawsuit is now meaningless,” stated Checkster CEO Yves Lermusi. “Eventhough Checkster does not, and never has, practiced the invention described in this now defunct patent, the easiest course to putting this legal procedure to rest was to simply invalidate that patent. So we did.”

The dispute involved Checkster’s industry leading Automated Reference Check product that assesses talent pre-hire by upgrading the traditional manual telephone reference check into an efficient digital reference check process. Checkster solution is used by many Fortune 500 companies and providers of HR services worldwide.

Checkster is represented by Fenwick & West, LLP, of San Francisco, one of the top patent litigation firms in the nation.
