ASHHRA Introduces HealthcareSource New-to-the-Profession ASHHRA Annual Conference Grant

CHICAGO and WOBURN, Mass. (April 12, 2010) — The American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA), a personal membership group of the American Hospital Association (AHA), and HealthcareSource®, the leading provider of talent management solutions for the health care industry, today announced a partnership to provide financial support to human resources practitioners who are new in their careers.

To prepare the next generation of HR leaders for the challenges they’ll face in the health care industry, ASHHRA and HealthcareSource have joined together to offer a grant to New-to-the-Profession human resources practitioners who have worked in the field for less than five years. The HealthcareSource New-to-the-Profession ASHHRA Annual Conference Grant will be used to offset the expenses incurred by recipients as they attend the ASHHRA 46th Annual Conference & Exposition in Tampa, Fla., Sept. 25 — 28, 2010. Grant recipients not only have the opportunity to raise their knowledge through the learning platform, they can also network with senior level HR leaders and expand their network of industry contacts.

“This is the first time ASHHRA has been able to extend a helping hand exclusively to the younger population of human resources professionals,” said ASHHRA Executive Director Stephanie Drake. “As baby boomers transition into retirement over the next five years or so, ASHHRA and HealthcareSource want to ensure that the industry has the most talented professionals who can maintain the high standards of quality and patient safety required in our nation’s hospitals and health care facilities.”

“As a leading provider of talent management software for health care providers, we work with thousands of HR professionals and deeply understand the challenges and demands of the profession,” said Peter Segall, chief executive officer, HealthcareSource. “This partnership and resulting grant is our way to give back and support tomorrow’s generation of health care HR leaders.”
