Companies Move to Mentoring for Employee Development, Says Insala

Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX – November 18, 2009 – Insala announced a marked increase in mentoring product interest as corporate training spending and staffing declined 11 percent, according to Bersin & Associates’ 2009 Corporate Learning Factbook.

The global provider of talent management and career transition solutions reports that companies are seeking other ways to develop staff as an alternative to costly traditional training.

The Bersin & Associates research reveals that the U.S. corporate training market shrunk from $58.5 billion in 2007 to $56.2 billion in 2008, experiencing the greatest decline in more than 10 years. The research mirrors Insala’s consistent rise in interest with their mentoring software solutions.

“Companies are cutting training spending and staffing and moving to informal and more collaborative approaches to employee development,” said Morgan O’Brien, Insala Vice President of Business Development. “Instructor-led programs are taking up smaller shares of training budgets and companies are focusing on more informal learning, mentoring, and coaching methods.”

“We’ve found many companies are looking to do more with less, but still need to meet their business objectives for employee development,” O’Brien added. “Cost effective mentoring programs are the answer as they allow for greater knowledge sharing through mentoring and coaching and they support unique, defined mentoring methodologies.”

Insala’s mentoring program solutions are armed with a series of online back-office support capabilities, enabling program managers and consultants to deliver a high quality initiative while saving time and resources. In addition to tools for matching and pairing, Insala’s mentoring solutions include mentoring assessments, data tracking, and reporting tools allowing managers and consultants to oversee the program more closely and promptly cater to the needs of participants on both sides of the Mentor-Mentee relationship.
