HealthcareSource releases new versions of behavioral assessment solutions

New features and licensing enables use for employee development; Sales momentum very strong.

WOBURN, MA — July 25, 2012 — HealthcareSource®, the leading provider of talent management solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today the release of new versions of HealthcareSource Staff Assessment (sm) and HealthcareSource Reference Assessment (sm). It also announced continued strong demand and momentum for all of their behavioral assessment solutions.

The HealthcareSource family of behavioral assessment solutions includes HealthcareSource Staff Assessment (formerly TestSource HSI), HealthcareSource Leadership Assessment (sm), formerly TestSource HLI) and HealthcareSource Reference Assessment. Together these solutions help healthcare organizations identify job candidates and develop employees based on the behavioral competencies needed to meet the demands of specific healthcare jobs. HealthcareSource Staff Assessment and HealthcareSource Leadership Assessment earned the exclusive endorsement of the American Hospital Association (AHA).

HealthcareSource Reference Assessment, launched in February 2012 and garnered immediate market acceptance, with 20+ sales and 12 clients live. Staff Assessment and Leadership Assessment continues very strong client adoption, with sales in the first half of 2012 increasing 200+ percent over the first half of 2011. “Market demand for our assessments solutions has been very strong,” said Michael DiPietro, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, HealthcareSource. “Our approach of focusing on healthcare and validating our assessments within a large healthcare population allows us to provide easy to use, easy to implement, and easy to afford solutions.”

The new version of Reference Assessment features an updated user interface, and support for an increased number of job success benchmarks for job families and healthcare occupations, job specific minimum reference requirements, employment verification, and hire/no hire functionality. Deep integration with HealthcareSource Position Manager®, the leading applicant tracking solution in healthcare, is also supported in this release. Now hiring managers and recruiters can manage most functions within Position Manager.

The new version of Staff Assessment features new functionality to help clients use the behavioral assessment not only for recruiting, but also for employee development. The Nurse Critical Thinking report is an assessment of critical thinking skills for nursing, validated and normed against nursing certification levels. It helps healthcare organizations identify nurses who are below the norm for their certification level, in order to provide them with education and training plans. The Employee Development Report uses the behavioral assessment taken during the interview process and produces employee-specific development plans based on their behavioral competencies. Staff Assessment also includes a new dashboard, which allows recruiters and hiring managers to rank candidates based on key behavioral competencies and focus their recruiting efforts on those with the closest fit to their mission, values and culture. Lastly, a new unlimited license is now available, allowing clients to use the assessment for all candidates and employees without concern for incremental costs.

“Quality patient care requires quality talent. Quality talent goes beyond technical competencies; it also means teamwork, compassion, work ethic, and more. Traditional interviews and reference checks don’t accurately uncover these competencies,” said DiPietro. “Our assessment solutions have helped over 700 healthcare organizations hire more accurately for these behavioral competencies. The new versions and unlimited licensing help extend our tools to encompass employee development.”

About HealthcareSource Assessment Solutions

HealthcareSource Staff Assessment has been designed and validated to identify top performers for five job families. It improves new-hire retention, integrates “fit” into the selection process, identifies service-oriented applicants, and provides interviewers with a structured, behavioral-based interview process. It supports employee development with behavioral based employee development plans and nurse critical thinking development plans.

HealthcareSource Reference Assessment automates the reference checking process. Candidates electronically invite references to respond to a brief anonymous online survey regarding the candidate’s behaviors. The results are evaluated using validated behavioral-based science to predict the behavioral fit of the candidate for the job family. This translates into dramatic timesavings for HR, higher response rates on references, and lower employee turnover.

HealthcareSource Leadership Assessment, a behavioral science-based assessment that evaluates critical healthcare leadership competencies, including critical thinking, identifies individuals who are most likely to succeed as healthcare leaders, helps organizations develop incumbent leaders and prescribes specific solutions to enhance on-the-job performance. Leadership Assessment has been designed and validated by hospitals throughout the nation to identify the very best healthcare leaders.
