Ottawa Region Rewards Association Recognized for Outstanding Partnership

Inaugural Award from WorldatWork Names Local Association of the Year

May 27, 2010 — Washington — WorldatWork recently announced the recipient of its Local Network 2009 Local Association of the Year Award. In its inaugural year, the Local Association of the Year Award honors the one compensation, benefits and total rewards group in the WorldatWork Local Network for its outstanding support of the profession in the local community and partnership with WorldatWork.

In a conference for the leadership of WorldatWork Local Network groups on May 16 in Grapevine, Texas, the award was given to Ottawa Region Rewards Association (ORRA).

In 2009, ORRA grew its membership by 35 percent and had a budget surplus. By partnering with various Canadian universities to support students in the HR profession, the association engaged new members. Current members stayed engaged with regular surveys that ORRA used to measure satisfaction and effectiveness of programming. With numerous sold-out training and education events, ORRA committed to professional development for its members. And in addition to its partnership with WorldatWork, ORRA also works with the Conference Board of Canada and the Human Resources Professionals Association.

“In a challenging year, ORRA didn’t make any compromises to its dedication to the profession and involvement in the community. The leaders were creative in their engagement efforts and professional in every endeavor,” said Lisa Levey, WorldatWork public education manager. “We are proud to partner with them and recognize all their achievements.”

As the WorldatWork Local Network Local Association of the Year, ORRA receives a $1,000 cash award and a complimentary WorldatWork speaker at an upcoming member meeting.

Other local associations nominated for the award were:
Bluegrass Compensation Association
Charlotte Area Compensation Council
Columbia-Willamette Compensation Group
Houston Compensation Association
Kansas City Compensation and Benefits Association
Upstate Total Rewards Association
