OCEANSIDE, CA October 1, 2012 — Advanced Personnel Systems, Inc. (APS) announces the success of a highly customized integration to facilitate the flow of critical information from SmartSearch® recruiting business software into Nesco Resource’s AS/400 back office billing and payroll system.

Founded in 1956, Nesco Resource, initially implemented SmartSearch® in 2000 to support its front office sales and recruiting. By 2012, Nesco had expanded to 56 offices in 15 states, and it grew increasingly difficult to collect new employee data, time cards and expenses in a timely manner for processing through its highly customized AS/400 back office system.
Nesco Resource had been exporting new hire transaction reports from SmartSearch® and running them through a number of macro scripts to export employee employee data in a nightly batch, but this was not frequent enough to keep pace with the growth of staffing placements and pay/bill changes. In addition, this time-consuming process involved a line-by-line comparison of data on spreadsheets to insure accuracy of job information, pay and bill rates, and other new hire data along with workers comp codes and state/local codes. Nesco needed a better, faster way to transfer this critical information and retain data integrity. Complicating the task was the AS/400 platform used at Nesco for back office data processing since Smart Search® typical web-services approach to moving data were not supported.
After installing the SmartSearch® Accounting Gateway module for online time and expense collection, APS designed custom data sets to accommodate the AS/400’s unique requirements. A customized data feed was also created along with automated schedules for moving new hire transactions from SmartSearch® to the AS/400. This solution allows critical payroll and billing data to be batched and transferred out of SmartSearch® via FTP file in a format that is accessible to the AS/400 system.
