New Self-Matching Capability Accelerates Management of Large Mentoring Programs

Insala, the global leader in technology and services assisting organizations with mentoring and career development, announces a new self-matching capability in its leading Hi-Impact Mentoring® software.

For organizations looking to facilitate large corporate mentoring programs, self-matching technology dramatically cuts administration time and enables the matching and pairing process to “run itself.” With Insala’s technology tools, mentors and mentees can match themselves based on criteria pre-selected by a program manager, within any mentoring program. This capability is integrated within the user experience together with an option to accept matches recommended by program administrators — enabling various routes to the best possible partnerships.

Once program administrators set specific criteria for matching and pairing and enter them into the software, they can either facilitate the matching and pairing process themselves, or enable participants to match themselves with the best mentor or mentee. Organizations can use the default criteria available in the Insala software or customize the software content to include the matching criteria most appropriate for their programs.

“The new self-matching capability enables our mentoring software to facilitate an even wider range of types of mentoring programs,” says Doug Maxwell, founder and chief technology officer at Insala. “More importantly — large organizations with larger program populations can see tremendous efficiency gains.”

“The ability to self-match certainly does not necessarily mean that administrator-led matching and pairing should be a secondary consideration,” says Judy Corner, director of mentoring services at Insala. “It doesn’t have to be about choosing one over the other. Even for organizations that prefer to use only self-matching within their programs, administrative matching can still be made available as an option – in case individuals need assistance with finding the appropriate mentor or mentee. We believe that a combination of both types of matching capabilities enables best-practice program management, and our software fully supports this best practice.”
