DETAILS:
With state regulations, tax issues, reporting requirements and hearings to consider, handling unemployment processes in-house can often be burdensome, time consuming and expensive. Streamlining unemployment management can help employers overcome cost challenges, relieve the burden of claims administration and improve hearing results.

At the next West Georgia Society for Human Resource Managing (SHRM) meeting, TALX unemployment expert Dave O’Connell will present “Unemployment: Relieving the Employer’s Burden of Claims/Improving Hearing Results,” to help employers understand their responsibilities and options when managing unemployment processes. During this session, O’Connell will detail federal and state unemployment funding methods, define employer liability and review protestable and non-protestable claims. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of HR documentation practices and their effect on hearing attendance and evidentiary requirements, as well as the ultimate effect of federally extended unemployment benefits on employers.

Presenter Dave O’Connell is a seventeen year veteran of the unemployment cost management industry. As senior client relationship manager at TALX, O’Connell focuses on reducing assigned state unemployment tax rates and adjacent employment liability and manages the Tax, Claims Processing and Appellate divisions of the state unemployment insurance model.

“Unemployment: Relieving the Employer’s Burden of Claims/Improving Hearing Results” is part of the West Georgia SHRM chapter’s annual calendar of monthly meetings and is complimentary to chapter members. As an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management, the West Georgia chapter is a local starting point for networking, information, professional development and continued support of excellence in Human Resources.
