TEDS, Inc is an Atkins, Virginia-based software development and consulting firm that provides talent management software systems and support services for world-class companies and organizations throughout the U.S. and around the world.

W&L will use the TEDS Talent Management System’s Performance Impact™ module to automate, support and enhance their new performance management process. The system will align University and individual goals within the University’s strategic plan to monitor and maximize overall organizational performance.

Along with Performance Impact, the University will use elements of two other modules in the TEDS Talent Management Suite – TEDS RTC Power™ (Roles, Tasks and Competencies) and TEDS Job Vision™ – to underpin their entire performance management process.

“It is critical that the University President and other decision makers have at their fingertips real-time performance data,” said Amy Barnes, W&L’s Executive Director of Human Resources. “We assign, track and evaluate competencies for each career stage. This process would be impossible without the process automation that TEDS provides.”

Ms. Barnes also cited TEDS’ strong compliance management functionality.  “The RFP process went very smoothly, our requirements were clearly understood, and the TEDS team was very easy to work with,” said Sherry Wright, Assistant Director for Workforce Development at the university. “We were impressed with the degree and ease of product customization available in the TEDS system.”

David Saacke, the university’s Director of Enterprise Applications praised the implementation flexibility of the TEDS Talent Management System. “We will certainly benefit from the ability to implement various TEDS modules as needed and in the order we need them,” he said. “This capability facilitates our planning for future talent management needs and affords the university significant cost savings.”

“We are very pleased to have been selected by Washington and Lee University to assist them in their continuing quest for excellence through effective performance management,” said Joe Ellis, TEDS President and CEO. “Washington and Lee’s reputation for excellence in higher education is long-standing and continues to grow. We are excited to play a role in maximizing the University’s talent and capabilities through innovative technologies.”

About Washington and Lee University
Founded in 1749 and located in Lexington, Virginia, Washington and Lee University is named for two of the most influential men in American history: George Washington, whose endowment of $20,000 in 1796 helped the fledgling school (then known as Liberty Hall Academy) survive, and Robert E. Lee, whose presidency and innovative leadership moved the University into national prominence.

Washington and Lee is composed of two undergraduate divisions, the College and the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics; and a graduate School of Law. The undergraduate institution offers 39 majors and has the only fully-accredited business school and fully-accredited journalism program among the nation’s top-tier liberal arts colleges.  Recognized as one of the nation’s best teaching colleges, W&L places a high priority on recruiting and retaining a world-class faculty. Virtually all of the University’s professors hold the Ph.D. degree or equivalent earned doctoral degree. The average class size is 16 students and the student-to-faculty ratio is 9:1. W&L is also notable for its diverse national and international student body. The class of 2012 includes students from more than 40 states and 11 foreign countries.
